Hi Dorothy

I used to do tai chi a lot time ago way before I was diagnosed with RA. I used to really enjoy it as its slow relaxing movements. Is there anything under lifestyle or exercise section on here?

Hope you find something

Take care
Lou xx

I've been told that tai chi is very good for people with RA, have thought about doing it.

Don't know about the belly dancing mind you. The thought of me wobbling my belly in public.....oh dear, not a pretty sight.Tongue

Hi Dorothy - I do tai chi, and find it brilliant. Make sure you find a class that is tai chi for health else you could find yourself doing martial arts with a sword!!!!!! My instructor is currently extending his classes because he has got support from the supervisor of local sheltered accommodation and he focuses on balance, breathing and stretching- so it's ideal for anyone with limited mobility

This is the instructor I train with Nick Taylor - Devon Tai Chi Centre. The style of tai chi he provides is Chen style

Another guy who appears in lots of searches is Dr Paul Lam. He's american and runs a franchise operation with various classes all over the world - I haven't been to one of his classes, but I've used his DVDs and they seem very good - nice and gentle tai chi for health

There is lots of jargon, but don't get put off, as there is a big drive on at the moment to provide more access to tai chi specifically for the health benefits - it can be performed to an advanced level as a true martial art, but most classes seem to be aimed at beginners and so are very gentle.

Good luck - Sylvia xx
